Assistant Production Manager

About the role

Headshots.com is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to co‑lead its photo editing and quality‑control teams. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will blend operational oversight with a keen eye for the subtle artistry of headshot retouching, ensuring every portrait meets the brand’s high standards of clarity and natural polish.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑develop and execute strategic initiatives to improve production workflows.
• Oversee daily editing operations, guaranteeing timely, high‑quality delivery of headshots.
• Maintain visual consistency, lighting standards, and natural retouching across all images.
• Identify recurring issues, provide constructive feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
• Supervise, mentor, hire, and onboard photo editors, fostering a collaborative, high‑accountability culture.
• Monitor task queues, optimize tools, and eliminate bottlenecks to keep projects on schedule.
• Lead team meetings, track KPIs, and document standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with internal teams to meet client‑specific requirements and support the creation of background templates and visual assets.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional photo retouching experience, preferably in headshots or portrait work.
• 3+ years of experience managing creative or production teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and detail‑orientation skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure, meet deadlines, and take extreme ownership of outcomes.
