Data Center Technician II

About the role

Google's Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Technician II to install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain cutting‑edge server hardware and software in a high‑performance data center environment. The role involves hands‑on work with servers, networking equipment, and Linux‑based clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and move server racks and related hardware.
• Configure and test server operating systems, primarily Linux.
• Troubleshoot hardware components, networking protocols, routers, switches, and other infrastructure devices.
• Lead or participate in small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Maintain physical safety standards while performing frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting of up to 50 lb.

Required profile

• Experience with component‑level repairs and troubleshooting of technical equipment.
• Proven ability to diagnose operating systems, server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Physical ability to lift/move 50 lb and work extended periods on‑site.
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Fluent English communication skills.
