Middle Backend Engineer

About the role

AgileEngine is seeking a Middle Backend Engineer to build and maintain the backend services of a high‑traffic community platform that integrates with Glassdoor and Fishbowl. You will design RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Node.js and TypeScript, work with MongoDB and Redis for scalability, and support production releases via GitLab CI/CD pipelines. The role emphasizes performance optimization and close collaboration with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Deliver sprint‑scoped features for the Community/Fishbowl roadmap.
• Design, build, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Utilize MongoDB and Redis to ensure scalable architecture.
• Support production deployments and troubleshoot issues through GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor and improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Provide production support, including bug fixes and incident response during work hours.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and platform stability.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with MongoDB and Redis.
• Experience with production CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving skills focused on performance optimization and scalability.
• Experience working in collaborative Agile development environments.
• Upper‑intermediate English proficiency.
