Python Developer – AI Expert (Remote, Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Python backend developer to join a high‑caliber engineering team working on AI‑enhanced developer tools. This part‑time, remote contract role focuses on building robust APIs, testing cutting‑edge AI models, and providing actionable feedback to shape the next generation of coding assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs.
• Implement data validation, error handling, and security best practices in backend services.
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and schema changes.
• Test AI‑powered models in the Cursor platform, reporting incidents, bugs, and screenshots.
• Participate in intensive 4‑day testing bursts to evaluate AI impact on real coding workflows.
• Collaborate with the research team via Slack, sharing findings and improvement ideas.
• Complete post‑burst surveys delivering insights on model performance and developer experience.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience with Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear incident reporting.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, confidential, and collaborative remote environments.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for AI advancements in software development.
