Scientific Software Developer

About the role

Join the Rio de Janeiro R&D team as a Scientific Software Developer, turning experimental geophysical and machine‑learning prototypes into reliable, production‑grade software. You will work closely with research geophysicists and data scientists, championing software‑engineering best practices while staying embedded in scientific workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement automated data pipelines for seismic and subsurface datasets used in ML training and geophysical inversion.
• Develop and maintain interactive visualization tools (e.g., Plotly, Dash, Matplotlib) for quality‑control of complex data.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker) and environment management to ensure reproducibility.
• Collaborate with scientists to translate research ideas into scalable, production‑ready solutions.
• Refactor monolithic scripts into modular, testable Python packages.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimise code, potentially using GPU acceleration or C++/CUDA kernels.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Geophysics, Physics or a related quantitative field.
• Professional experience developing Python applications for data‑intensive or scientific use cases.
• Familiarity with wave physics, signal processing or seismic theory is a strong plus.
• Experience working in Linux/HPC environments and handling large‑scale datasets.
