Senior Accountant – Real Estate (QBO experience)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant with deep real‑estate accounting expertise to own the month‑end close for a portfolio of property and development entities. The role is hands‑on, independent and focused on delivering accurate, timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the monthly close process for multiple real‑estate entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate general‑ledger records across property and holding entities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Handle intercompany transactions, eliminations and job‑costing/project accounting.
• Support investor, lender reporting and draw‑request preparation.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and deadlines.
• Collaborate with external CPAs, auditors and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• 4–6 years overall accounting experience, with at least 2 years in real‑estate accounting.
• Prior experience at a Senior Accountant or Junior Controller level.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end close independently.
• Strong organizational skills and a track record of meeting deadlines.
• Comfortable working autonomously and juggling multiple legal entities.

Required skills

• Strong experience with QuickBooks Online or other cloud‑based accounting systems.
• Solid understanding of real‑estate accounting fundamentals.
• Experience with job costing or project‑based accounting.
• Knowledge of intercompany transactions and eliminations.
