Umbilical Inspector – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

The Umbilical Inspector will lead QA/QC activities for the manufacturing of dynamic and static umbilicals at vendor premises in Brazil. This full‑time, 12‑month contract role ensures that all fabrication, integration, testing and load‑out processes meet strict quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that vendor QC reports are reviewed and approved in a timely manner.
• Ensure all work follows the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and that FAT/SIT tests are executed according to approved procedures.
• Monitor welding and non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities to confirm compliance with qualified procedures.
• Conduct regular on‑site inspections of umbilical fabrication, integration, packing and verification testing.
• Identify and report technical or resource bottlenecks that could affect schedule.
• Raise, track and close non‑conformities on‑site.
• Provide daily and weekly reporting to the SURF team and maintain QC performance indicators.
• Gather lessons learned and share feedback with other company entities.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years in a similar umbilical inspection role.
• Engineering education to HNC level or higher (or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience in umbilical manufacturing.
• Vocational qualifications such as TWI/CSWIP 3.1 (or equivalent) and NDT Level II (ISO 9712).
• Fluent in English and Portuguese.
• Strong knowledge of HSE practices and company ethics.
