Specialist Course Instructor (Sessions 2 and 8)

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Specialist Course Instructor to deliver Sessions 2 and 8 of the Integrated Territorial Planning course. The consultant will work remotely, collaborating closely with UN‑Habitat’s operational and technical teams to strengthen municipal resilience across the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver training sessions for public officials on integrated territorial planning and climate risk prevention.
• Develop and adapt training materials to align with the New Urban Agenda and the 2030 Agenda.
• Coordinate with UN‑Habitat’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) to ensure consistency with project objectives.
• Provide timely performance reports and feedback to project managers.
• Support capacity‑building activities for municipal staff and state government officials.

Required profile

• Proven experience in urban planning, climate adaptation, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to train public officials and facilitate interdisciplinary workshops.
• Familiarity with UN‑Habitat processes and the Resilient Environment Program is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills in English; Portuguese is a plus.
• Ability to work independently on a remote, contract basis.
