Associate Legal Counsel

About the role

SBM Offshore is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel to join its Legal, Contracts & Compliance Group. This entry‑level position is ideal for newly qualified lawyers who want to develop expertise in the offshore energy sector while supporting a global leader in deepwater infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analyse information to support decision‑making.
• Draft, review and assist in negotiating commercial contracts using SBM’s standard and industry templates.
• Provide legal advice to business lines from early engagement through execution and operations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards.
• Monitor regulatory developments in the oil and gas sector and advise on potential impacts.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of legal templates and standard operating procedures.
• Help mitigate legal risks and promote best practices in compliance and risk management.

Required profile

• LL.B. or LL.M. degree (or equivalent) with coursework in energy, environmental or maritime law preferred.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Newly qualified or in the process of admission, with a strong interest in corporate and offshore energy law.
