Backend & Data Engineer (Generalist)

About the role

Tenchi is looking for a versatile Backend Software Engineer who also has a strong passion for Data Engineering. You will work on core backend services while shaping the data pipelines that power our TPCRM SaaS platform, Zanshin.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services and APIs using Python.
• Architect, build, and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines with PySpark to handle large data volumes.
• Containerise applications and data jobs for consistent deployment across environments.
• Create efficient relational database schemas and optimise complex SQL queries for transactional and analytical workloads.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and data‑science teams to translate data requirements into production‑ready software.

Required profile

• Software engineer mindset with a deep appreciation for data pipelines, scalability and distributed systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote, fast‑moving environment.
• Strong communication skills to partner with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Python (including frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask)
• PySpark for data processing
• Advanced SQL (joins, window functions, query optimisation)
• Containerisation tools (e.g., Docker)
