CAE Engineer – FEM & Simulation Specialist

About the role

As a CAE Engineer at Tractian, you will lead the simulation and analysis of our IIoT hardware solutions. Working closely with product, manufacturing and test teams, you will ensure that every device meets high performance, durability and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and run FEM analyses including linear/non‑linear static, modal, transient, random, frequency response, explicit and durability studies.
• Analyze vibrational behavior, generate FRFs, interpret mode shapes and optimise designs.
• Apply DOE, response‑surface methods, optimisation and uncertainty quantification to explore design space and assess risk.
• Plan and execute tests for model correlation, validation and accelerated life testing.
• Develop Python and/or MATLAB scripts for pre‑ and post‑processing to automate studies and improve model quality.
• Document standards, templates and best practices; propose new methods to capture physics faster.
• Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, supplier quality and production teams, providing data‑driven recommendations.
• Prepare clear reports and presentations describing assumptions, modelling choices, limitations and design implications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or a related engineering field.
• Strong understanding of FEM fundamentals with hands‑on experience.
• Ability to explain model behaviour and link results to underlying physics.
• Experience in test‑based model calibration/validation and correlating simulation with experimental data.
• Knowledge of fatigue analysis and durability assessment.
• Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data processing and automation.
• Advanced English level and willingness to live in or relocate to São Paulo.
