Director of Procurement and Supply Chain

About the role

The Director of Procurement and Supply Chain will lead procurement strategy, sourcing initiatives, supplier management and category management across a multi‑country region for a global mining, materials and glass‑recycling company. The role partners closely with operational, commercial, finance and supply‑chain stakeholders to deliver cost savings, optimise supplier relationships and ensure compliance with quality, service and sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead sourcing initiatives across key categories to achieve sustainable cost savings.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve supplier performance, pricing and service levels.
• Monitor procurement performance, spending trends and strategic sourcing outcomes.
• Maintain category strategies, analyse expenditure patterns and drive optimisation.
• Consolidate supplier portfolios and promote standardisation where appropriate.
• Lead strategic negotiations, contract discussions and supplier partnership development.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical sourcing practices and regulatory requirements.
• Support audit, internal control initiatives and risk mitigation across the supplier network.
• Drive procurement‑related transformation, integration of acquisitions and sustainability programs.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading procurement strategy and sourcing at a senior level in a multi‑country environment.
• Strong ability to partner with operational, commercial, finance and supply‑chain functions.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable cost savings and value creation.
• Experience managing supplier performance, risk and compliance.
• Capability to lead transformation and integration projects.
