End Fitting R&D Engineer

About the role

As an End Fitting R&D Engineer you will lead the development of innovative flexible‑pipe end‑fitting solutions for offshore oil & gas and emerging sustainable energy projects. Reporting to the Manager of End Fitting Research & Development, you will act as the primary contact for ERD on assigned projects and collaborate with global teams, test facilities, and factories.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new concepts and drive technology development in line with API 17N/Q and DNVGL‑RP‑A203 standards.
• Conduct FMEAs to identify technology risks and define qualification programmes.
• Perform analytical and finite‑element analyses, including bolted‑joint assessments, contact problems, and plastic deformation of seal components.
• Define and oversee test activities, dissections of test end‑fittings and field samples.
• Collaborate with external certification bodies for technology certification.
• Develop design methodologies and integrate them into design tools for safe commercial execution.
• Provide R&D support to the End Fitting Supply team during tendering and commercial projects.
• Conduct structured root‑cause analyses in coordination with clients.

Required profile

• M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a strong solid‑mechanics background.
• Relevant R&D experience developing and qualifying advanced products.
• Proven ability to plan and lead test programmes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Commitment to health, safety and environment (HSE) practices.
• Proactive, collaborative attitude and ability to work across cultures.
