Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Avra is an AI lab building relational foundation models used by leading Latin American enterprises in credit, growth and fraud decisions. It is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer with a data science background and experience in real-world enterprise decision-making. You will work directly with clients to deploy AI solutions that help them decide who to lend to, who to acquire and who to trust. The role is based in São Paulo, hybrid, with in-person time at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Work embedded with clients to understand their decision workflows, data infrastructure and operations, and turn their pain points into actionable use cases for Avra's platform.
• Build and deploy AI-powered solutions across credit and risk, customer acquisition and fraud.
• Assess the quality and accuracy of customer data so the Data Platform team can consume the right data in the right way.
• Partner with a Deployment Strategist to turn technical insight into a fast-moving business solution.
• Translate business requirements into technical specs and technical outputs into business narratives clients understand.
• Share learnings within the FDE cohort and feed insights from the field back to product and engineering teams to drive quick iteration.
• Communicate clearly with data specialists, operational teams and C-level stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent practical experience in statistics, econometrics or data science.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience solving real business problems with data in credit, risk, fraud, growth/acquisition or an adjacent decision-heavy domain.
• Experience with experimentation and causal inference: A/B tests, incrementality and quasi-experimental methods.
• Nice to have: previous experience at a fintech or high-growth technology company.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Comfort with APIs and basic software engineering concepts (version control, deployment, testing).
• Familiarity with real-world data structures and production data.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain a model's business impact to executives.
