Head of Engineering

About the role

CIAL is seeking a hands‑on Head of Engineering to build, lead, and scale its engineering organization in São Paulo. The role combines deep technical expertise with people‑first leadership to drive a high‑impact SaaS platform that simplifies financial data collection and analysis across LATAM.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams, setting a high bar for talent, execution, and culture.
• Establish a people‑first leadership approach focused on growth, ownership, and long‑term team success.
• Act as a bridge between engineering, product, and executive leadership to shape strategy and ensure fast, aligned execution.
• Own operational excellence, including reliability, observability, incident management, and a strong technical support mindset.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering practices and AI tools across the engineering lifecycle.

Required profile

• 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles such as Group Manager, Director, or Head of Engineering.
• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams in SaaS companies.
• Strong hands‑on engineering background with deep experience in Python, backend systems, APIs, and AWS or GCP cloud architecture.
• Experience designing and operating large‑scale, distributed, high‑availability backend services.
• Leadership of SRE, DevOps, or production engineering teams with full ownership of reliability and support.
• People‑first leader with a history of hiring, mentoring, and retaining top talent.
• Passion for leveraging AI tools to improve engineering velocity and quality.
• Experience in data‑intensive environments and fintech is a significant advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
