Lead Mechanical Engineer – Product Design & Engineering (Completion Products)

About the role

Baker Hughes is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design, development, and continuous improvement of its Completion Products portfolio. You will work on well completion systems, tubing technologies, and subsurface safety valves, delivering innovative solutions for demanding downhole environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and development of completion products, executing engineering calculations and technical evaluations.
• Support design verification, validation, and qualification activities for new and existing products.
• Develop engineering solutions that enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle, including root‑cause investigations, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver customer‑focused solutions.
• Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and project execution activities to ensure engineering excellence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical product design and engineering for oil & gas completion technologies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed engineering calculations and design analyses.
• Experience supporting product lifecycle management, including sustaining engineering and field performance improvements.
• Effective communicator able to work across multidisciplinary teams.
