Machine Learning Systems Engineer

About the role

Tether is building a highly scalable media intelligence platform that ingests, analyses, and structures massive multimedia content. As a Machine Learning Systems Engineer you will lead the design and implementation of the core backend services that power media ingestion, AI‑based analysis, semantic search and retrieval across large media libraries.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop production‑grade pipelines for media processing and moderation using open‑source ML models.
• Design and optimise backend systems that handle large‑scale text, image, video and audio data.
• Integrate AI/ML components into end‑to‑end workflows and ensure reliable, low‑latency performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define data schemas, metadata generation and search capabilities.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and continuously improve system reliability and scalability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in backend engineering and large‑scale system design.
• Strong background in applying machine learning models to production environments.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
• Excellent English communication skills.
