Programme Coordinator

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Programme Coordinator to lead the "Vida Nova no Morro" project in Niterói, Brazil. The role supports the Municipality’s housing and land regularisation efforts, strengthening data systems and institutional capacities to deliver inclusive, sustainable urban development.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation of housing mapping, community mobilisation and participatory methodologies.
• Strengthen municipal data systems and support evidence‑based planning for social housing policies.
• Facilitate housing assessments, community engagement and capacity‑building activities.
• Prepare reports and updates for the Head of the Brazil Office and UN‑Habitat technical teams.
• Ensure alignment of project activities with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in urban development, housing policy or related fields.
• Proven ability to work with municipal authorities, NGOs and UN agencies.
• Strong analytical, communication and coordination skills.
• Fluency in English; Portuguese proficiency is an advantage.
