Project Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a leading international sports marketing firm, is seeking an experienced Project Financial Controller to support high‑profile projects linked to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027. The role works closely with project leadership to ensure financial control, accurate budgeting, profitability analysis, and compliance with Brazilian legal and tax requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and control client budgets, produce detailed variance analysis and report budget status to internal management.
• Monitor financial performance and profitability of individual project elements, delivering sensitivity and scenario analyses for senior leadership.
• Provide commercial finance support to Project Managers and Directors, interpreting contract terms and overseeing invoicing and cash collection.
• Manage weekly cash‑flow forecasts, enforce strict cash controls, and act as liaison with local banking providers.
• Ensure adherence to group financial policies and Brazilian tax regulations, collaborating with local advisors on legal and regulatory matters.
• Liaise with international shared service centres to guarantee efficient financial operations, support cost coding, allocation, and supplier onboarding.
• Assist with local payroll preparation and execution in partnership with HR and professional advisors.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Fluent in English and Portuguese, both written and spoken.
• Proven experience in project accounting or project‑led environments.
• Strong commercial acumen and solid knowledge of Brazilian tax and business practices.
• Experience working in a multi‑currency environment.
