Senior Accounting Consultant / Technical Controller

About the role

This senior position supports a fast‑growing organization in Brazil by providing technical accounting expertise, audit readiness, and process optimisation. You will work closely with senior leadership to influence financial governance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with US GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the subject‑matter expert for US GAAP, advising on complex transactions and technical accounting matters.
• Lead lease accounting activities (ASC 842), including Right‑of‑Use assets, liabilities, contract assessments and modifications.
• Oversee fixed‑asset accounting, covering capitalization policies, lifecycle management, impairment and disposals.
• Strengthen month‑end close by improving accrual methods, cut‑off controls and reporting accuracy.
• Develop and maintain balance‑sheet reconciliation processes, control reviews and account ownership frameworks.
• Prepare audit schedules, technical documentation and reports for external auditors.
• Support accounting system migrations by documenting workflows, identifying control gaps and implementing technical requirements.
• Evaluate financial risks, investigate discrepancies and enhance internal controls to mitigate fraud.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA, CIA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
• Proven senior‑level experience as an accountant, auditor or assistant controller.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP, especially ASC 842 lease accounting and complex capitalization.
