Senior Engineer – Battery Software Management (Women’s Affinity)

About the role

As a Senior Engineer in Battery Software Management, you will develop, validate, and apply electrical and thermal models for lithium‑ion battery cells, modules, and full packs. The position supports the creation of high‑performance, safe, and reliable battery systems for a range of applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement physics‑based and empirical models to simulate electrical, thermal, and degradation behavior of lithium‑ion batteries.
• Run 1D simulation studies to assess battery performance under fast‑charging, thermal events, aging, and various environmental conditions.
• Analyze laboratory test data to extract model parameters, validate simulations, and improve model robustness.
• Perform sensitivity analyses, scenario simulations, and model‑based evaluations to guide design decisions.
• Collaborate with cell, module, and pack design engineers as well as test and control teams to define requirements and optimise system performance.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations summarising methodology and results.
• Share progress and insights with cross‑functional product teams and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or Applied Physics from an ABET‑accredited university.
• Minimum 2 years of experience using simulation tools for engineering applications.
• Hands‑on experience with 0D/1D battery simulation and analysis tools.

Required skills

• GT‑SUITE, MATLAB/Simulink, Amesim or equivalent simulation platforms.
• Strong understanding of lithium‑ion battery fundamentals, performance, thermal behavior and aging mechanisms.
• Knowledge of high‑voltage electrical circuits, bus‑bar design and Battery Disconnect Unit (BDU) functionality.
• Data analysis, result interpretation and clear communication of findings.
• Experience with optimisation methods for model improvement.
