Software Engineer – Automation Migration (Python)

About the role

This position is part of the CARS (Cognitive Agentic & Robotic Services) DevOps squad, tasked with migrating Mars' enterprise automation from Automation Anywhere to an open‑source Python solution on the proprietary Convergence platform. The Software Engineer will build, test, and support production automations while ensuring they meet strict quality and audit standards.

Key responsibilities

• Migrate and rebuild automation use cases from Automation Anywhere to Python on Convergence, following defined specifications and reusable patterns.
• Leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate development, then review, test, and harden the generated code.
• Develop new automations as the backlog grows, adhering to CARS coding standards and shared libraries.
• Write and execute automated tests to verify that migrated automations match original behavior and audit requirements.
• Provide first‑line support for production automations, monitor runs, and resolve failures promptly.
• Participate in code reviews, squad ceremonies, and continuous improvement of the CARS development framework.

Required profile

• Working proficiency in Python, including development and debugging.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and data querying.
• Strong grasp of software testing principles and disciplined verification.
• Ability to work in an Agile delivery model and collaborate with senior engineers.
