Software Engineer, Infrastructure

About the role

As a Software Engineer on the Unified Data Store (UDS) team, you will become the go‑to expert for data storage systems and high‑performance infrastructure service APIs. You will guide product teams on large‑scale system design, performance optimization, and the effective use of cutting‑edge technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate a high‑performance, highly available data access layer that abstracts storage, indexing, replication, security, and lifecycle management.
• Develop tooling and automation to define, test, deploy, monitor, migrate, and debug production data schemas.
• Collaborate with top‑tier engineers to evolve a modern, globally distributed storage platform supporting millions of users and hosts.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, efficiency, and security of critical Airbnb data.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of systems and infrastructure fundamentals.
• Ability to own and dive deeply into complex code bases while writing clean, readable, testable, and maintainable code.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote‑working environment.
• Interest in leveraging cutting‑edge technologies, including AI.
• Professional fluency in English.
