Tax Planning & Consulting Specialist

About the role

General Motors is seeking a Tax Planning & Consulting Specialist to lead the development, maintenance, and enforcement of its tax policies and procedures. The role combines strategic tax planning with hands‑on management of tax controversies to ensure efficient outcomes for the business.

Key responsibilities

• Update, maintain, and enforce GM’s tax policies and procedures.
• Actively manage tax controversies and litigation to achieve tax‑efficient results.
• Oversee the creation and refinement of tax planning and analytical models.
• Advise business teams on tax implications of new initiatives and operations.
• Maintain strong working relationships with external auditors, functional peers, taxing authorities, and outside counsel as required.

Required profile

• Ability to work in a hybrid setting, reporting to a designated location multiple times per week.
• Eligibility to work in the country without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
