Wells Engineer – Well Testing (12‑month contract)

About the role

Airswift is looking for a Wells Engineer – Well Testing to join a major oil & gas company on an outsourced contract in Rio de Janeiro. This 12‑month onshore position, open exclusively to Brazilian citizens, provides technical support for deep‑water exploration and appraisal well testing, ensuring safe and reliable execution of E&A well testing scopes.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a strong safety culture, focusing on inherently safer designs, process safety and procedural discipline.
• Collaborate with well testing, drilling teams and contractors to develop safe designs and detailed operating procedures.
• Coordinate regional resources and activities with input from functional and engineering management.
• Oversee preparation and testing of contractors’ equipment before rig mobilisation.
• Ensure contractual and technical compliance of service providers, monitor budgets and control expenditures.
• Analyse operational failures, assess root causes and present findings to foster learning.
• Draft technical reports, well programs, work instructions and other documentation in English.
• Manage Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard Operability (HAZOP) studies, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and HSE risk assessments.
• Interface with rig personnel to prepare SIMOPS, TWOPs and safety‑critical procedures.

Required profile

• Brazilian citizenship.
• Experience in deep‑water well testing design, equipment supervision and detailed engineering.
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary, international teams.
• Strong understanding of local regulations, industry standards and safety best practices.
