Application Engineer – Drilling and Completion Fluids

About the role

Baker Hughes is seeking an Application Engineer specialized in drilling and completion fluids to ensure flawless well construction operations. The role involves pre‑planning, job execution, and post‑job analysis to deliver optimal performance for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process.
• Work with Operations and Commercial Coordinators to understand customer well construction and production objectives.
• Develop technical work programs, risk mitigation strategies, and contingency plans for drilling and completion operations.
• Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and modeling to assess application risks and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate technical and operational constraints.
• Provide technical recommendations and product application expertise to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Support incident investigations and identify corrective actions to improve operational performance.
• Compare planned versus executed work, document lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Offer on‑demand technical support during job execution and critical operational phases.
• Assist with bid preparation, sales activities, and customer presentations.
• Monitor operational KPIs and prepare service delivery reports.
• Lead post‑job reviews and technical analysis meetings with customers and internal teams.
• Support laboratory testing activities and field trials for new products and technologies.
• Train and mentor less experienced personnel.
• Collaborate with global teams to share technical expertise and best practices.
• Travel to customer locations and drilling sites as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Active CRQ or CREA registration.
• Advanced English skills (speaking, reading, writing).
