Assistant Teacher

About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Teacher to join The British School in Rio de Janeiro. The successful candidate will support classroom teaching, help plan and implement activities, and contribute to a positive learning environment for our diverse student body.
Key responsibilities
- Provide subject‑specific support to teachers and students.
- Assist in planning and preparing classroom activities and resources.
- Help implement lessons and maintain engaging classroom displays.
- Support school administration tasks, including ordering teaching materials.
- Contribute to behaviour management in line with school policies.
- Collaborate with teachers to inspire trust and promote student success.
Required profile
- Relevant Brazilian teaching qualification (Pedagogia) or an international teaching qualification.
- Fluency in English at C1 level, demonstrated by a recognised certification.
- Previous experience working in a school setting.
- Understanding of pedagogical strategies and strong organisational abilities.
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism and discretion.
