About the role

The College of Arts and Sciences at Howard University seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs. This senior position provides strategic oversight of externally funded research, graduate student funding, and teaching assistantships across 17 departments and emerging research centers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate teaching assistantships, graduate student fellowships, and research infrastructure.
• Oversee external grant administration, ensuring compliance and alignment with university policies.
• Collaborate with the University Office of Research to organize events such as the COAS Grants Academy.
• Collect, analyze, and report research data to inform recommendations for the Dean.
• Lead a team of staff members supporting research administration.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in a discipline offered within the College of Arts and Sciences.
• Eligibility for appointment at the rank of tenured full professor.
• Proven record as a Principal Investigator with a portfolio of external grants.
• Demonstrated administrative experience in external funding management.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
