Back-End Engineer – Java Spring & AI Integration

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable Java‑Spring services that power AI‑enhanced products. The role is fully remote, aligned with Central Time, and offers end‑to‑end ownership of features from architecture to production monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust backend applications and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Deploy, manage and scale microservices on AWS, leveraging Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Integrate production‑grade large language models (e.g., Claude, OpenAI, Gemini) into backend workflows.
• Architect and optimise data layers with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Own the full lifecycle of features, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting and debugging.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment to ensure high‑quality, reliable software.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of professional experience building production backend systems (Software Engineer II level).
• Strong Java expertise with the Spring Boot framework.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services and container technologies.
• Practical experience integrating LLMs into production applications.
