Class Assistant – Pre‑prep/Prep School

About the role

Class Assistants support teaching staff in the Pre‑prep/Prep School, helping to create a safe and stimulating environment that promotes pupils’ academic, social and personal development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and support individual pupils or small groups as directed.
• Prepare classroom resources, manage stationery and ensure materials are ready for use.
• Supervise children, maintain a safe and respectful climate, and intervene in conflicts.
• Promote positive behaviour by applying the school’s behaviour policy.
• Communicate key messages to teachers and staff, both verbally and in writing.
• Encourage inclusion and help each child feel successful in learning.
• Uphold professional standards, including speaking English at all times (except during Portuguese lessons) and adhering to uniform, punctuality and attendance policies.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about supporting young learners in a junior school setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and follow their guidance.
• Strong communication skills in English; basic Portuguese useful for classroom interaction.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and respectful classroom environment.
• Willingness to participate in professional development, staff meetings and training sessions.
