Compliance Director Brazil

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Compliance Director to lead our regulatory strategy in Brazil as we pursue a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) licence. You will design and own the local compliance framework and act as the primary liaison with Brazilian regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the compliance components of the VASP licence application, ensuring alignment with Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) and CVM requirements.
• Serve as the main point of contact for Brazilian regulatory bodies, managing inspections and building proactive relationships.
• Assume the legal and professional responsibilities of the local licence holder (KAST Director).
• Work with Legal and Product teams to translate Brazilian regulations into compliant product features, including onboarding, KYC/AML, and reporting.
• Act as the local Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), overseeing suspicious activity monitoring and reporting to COAF.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal policies such as the Compliance Manual and Code of Ethics, adapting them to evolving local laws.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in compliance, legal, or risk management within financial services or fintech.
• Proven track record as a Compliance Officer or MLRO in the Brazilian market.
• Deep knowledge of BCB regulations, CVM guidelines, and the VASP regulatory landscape (Law 14.478/22).
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced certifications (CAMS, ACAMS, or Brazilian compliance certifications) preferred.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese.
