Control Systems Engineer

About the role

GA Drilling is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to lead the design, simulation, and control of actuation systems for its next‑generation downhole drilling tools. Based in Rio de Janeiro, you will work within a fast‑moving, globally distributed team focused on delivering high‑performance solutions for geothermal energy extraction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electro‑electronic and actuation system designs for high‑voltage downhole tools, from concept through detailed schematics and wiring harnesses.
• Create and validate multi‑domain dynamic models using Simscape and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Design, implement, and test control algorithms on embedded processors in collaboration with firmware engineers.
• Define and execute component‑ and system‑level validation plans, including Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) and extreme environmental testing.
• Provide technical support to field service technicians and on‑site drilling crews to resolve operational issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in control systems, electrical design, or related engineering fields.
• Proven ability to work across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical domains on complex hardware projects.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in high‑pressure, high‑temperature environments.
