Data Analyst – UN-Habitat Project

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Data Analyst to support the "Vida Nova no Morro" project in Niterói, Brazil. The consultant will work closely with UN‑Habitat’s operational and technical teams to strengthen municipal data systems and provide evidence‑based insights for sustainable urban development.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and validate data related to housing, land regularisation and urban conditions in informal settlements.
• Develop and maintain databases and dashboards that inform social housing policies and community‑engagement activities.
• Support evidence‑based planning by producing analytical reports, visualisations and maps for project stakeholders.
• Collaborate with municipal officials, UN‑Habitat staff and community partners to ensure data quality and relevance.
• Document data processes and contribute to capacity‑building workshops for local authorities.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in statistics, data science, urban planning or a related field.
• Experience working in development projects or with governmental agencies is preferred.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Portuguese is an advantage.
