Director, Global Legal Template Transformation

About the role

The Director, Global Legal Template Transformation leads the worldwide strategy and execution for simplifying, governing, and implementing contract templates, clauses, and playbooks. This senior position operates with significant autonomy, influencing cross‑functional teams to deliver faster, more consistent, and AI‑ready contracting across Johnson & Johnson.

Key responsibilities

• Own the global legal template transformation roadmap, priorities, deliverables, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead assessment, consolidation, simplification, drafting, validation, and approval of templates, clauses, fallback positions, and playbooks.
• Set plain‑language, user‑centered content standards while maintaining legal and compliance protections.
• Steward consistent legal positions, challenge legacy approaches, and frame material issues for senior leaders.
• Lead localization of globally neutral content, limiting variation to approved legal or operational requirements.
• Build the end‑to‑end operating model, including intake, taxonomy, roles, handoffs, maintenance, and supporting tools.
• Establish governance for ownership, version control, approvals, exceptions, review cycles, releases, and retirement.
• Partner on training, communications, adoption, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor, LL.B., or equivalent law degree; advanced training or experience in legal operations, contracting, project management, transformation, or change management preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of legal or contracting experience, including leadership of complex commercial contracting or enterprise transformation; life‑sciences experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead global workstreams, navigate ambiguity, and influence senior leaders without formal authority.
• Proven success delivering legal or contracting transformation at scale, connecting strategy, governance, content, technology, data, and change.
