Field Supervisor

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Field Supervisor for the “Vida Nova no Morro” project in Niterói, Brazil. This six‑month consultancy will support the Municipality of Niterói in strengthening data systems, developing social housing policies, and promoting sustainable, inclusive urban development in informal settlements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise field activities, including housing mapping and community mobilization.
• Collect, verify, and analyse data to inform evidence‑based planning and housing assessments.
• Facilitate participatory methodologies and engage local residents, municipal officials, and partners.
• Ensure project interventions align with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda.
• Report progress and challenges to the Head of the Brazil Office and UN‑Habitat technical teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in urban development, housing projects, or community‑based interventions, preferably with international NGOs or UN agencies.
• Strong understanding of informal settlement dynamics and social housing policy.
• Excellent communication skills in Portuguese and English.
• Ability to work independently in a field environment and manage multidisciplinary teams.
