Food Law Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a Food Law Counsel to lead legal risk management and compliance for food products across South America. The professional will advise internal teams, especially Marketing, on food law, media law and intellectual property, and support the implementation of company‑wide compliance policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain labelling specification files (F8) in line with applicable food laws and internal standards.
• Review labelling executions on packaging for accuracy and compliance upon request from business teams.
• Support compliance checks for new product development and follow sanitary registration applications with public agencies.
• Respond to inquiries from trade partners and consumers regarding food claims and labelling.
• Advise on food claims used in labels and marketing materials.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining food safety compliance procedures.
• Provide regulatory guidance on ingredients, packaging, contaminants, microbiological criteria, novel foods, etc.
• Act as the Business Unit focal point for global Food Law, Regulatory & Compliance SOPs.
• Coordinate with external legal and regulatory consultants and maintain a network of specialists.
• Conduct horizon scanning of legislative and regulatory developments across South America and deliver business‑relevant insights.

Required profile

• Legal degree with solid experience in food law, regulatory affairs or compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to counsel internal stakeholders, especially Marketing, on legal matters.
• Strong knowledge of South American food legislation, labeling requirements, and registration processes.
• Experience interacting with public agencies and external consultants.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate regulatory changes into practical business guidance.
