Head of Compliance – Brazil (VASP)

About the role

We are launching our digital asset platform in Brazil as a Banco Central do Brasil‑authorised Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP). As the first Head of Compliance on the ground, you will build the compliance programme from scratch and become the regulator’s trusted point of contact.

Key responsibilities

• Hold statutory officer responsibility for compliance at a BCB‑authorised VASP, acting in good faith and in the company’s best interest.
• Design, implement and maintain an effective AML/CFT and KYC programme, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and suspicious activity reporting.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the BCB and COAF for audits, inspections and ad‑hoc information requests.
• Maintain personal fitness and propriety, disclosing any conflicts or issues to both the company and the regulator.
• Drive the VASP authorisation process forward on the compliance workstream, providing required declarations and documentation.

Required profile

• Brazilian permanent residency or citizenship with the ability to reside in Brazil for the duration of the role.
• No competing officer or director positions at other regulated entities in Brazil.
• Direct compliance experience at a BCB‑regulated institution or crypto exchange/VASP.
• Hands‑on ownership of AML/CFT and KYC programmes.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English, written and spoken.
• Willingness to undergo a full BCB fit‑and‑proper review.
