Hull Plan Approval Engineer – Rio de Janeiro

About the role

RINA is seeking a Hull Plan Approval Engineer to join its Latin America Marine Division in Rio de Janeiro. The role focuses on detailed plan and design reviews, ensuring that new builds, conversions and existing vessels meet client requirements, class rules and statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve hull structural drawings for ships, offshore units and marine equipment in compliance with Class Rules and statutory regulations.
• Assist clients during design and construction, providing guidance on structural design and resolving conflicting requirements.
• Perform assessments, load distribution and strength calculations, and deliver specialist advice within budget and contractual constraints.
• Manage day‑to‑day project elements, conduct site visits for measurements, and ensure accurate data and documentation are submitted.
• Review technical reports, project performance documents and engineering drawings, and take corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee financial progress of assigned tasks and support project managers with escalation handling.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in hull design, shipbuilding or marine engineering, preferably within a Class Society or shipyard environment.
• Hands‑on experience with international maritime standards such as SOLAS and MARPOL.
• Demonstrated ability to manage simple to complex projects and communicate effectively with engineering and construction teams.
