Import Export Specialist – Trade & Compliance

About the role

The Trade & Compliance Specialist ensures that every shipment processed through the client’s and third‑party warehouses complies with commercial and trade regulations. Working on a 16‑hour‑per‑week hybrid schedule, the role blends onsite coordination with remote document processing to keep global movements flowing smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Process Move Order Requests (MORs) from receipt to carrier delivery, verifying order details, Incoterms, and shipment status in the ticketing and order‑tracking systems.
• Review, approve, and, when necessary, manually create commercial invoices and trade documents to meet shipping best practices.
• Coordinate global ATA Carnet issuance for temporary cross‑border movements of equipment and demonstration hardware.
• Research and interpret import/export regulations, tax liabilities, and restrictions for new delivery locations.
• Act as the escalation point for inbound shipments held at customs, troubleshooting clearance issues and managing hazardous‑goods shipments, especially lithium‑ion batteries.
• Maintain accurate location‑code data and entity mappings within commercial‑invoice tooling.
• Compile brokerage performance metrics, transportation cost data, and monthly compliance reports.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of international trade compliance, customs clearance procedures, and ATA Carnet processes.
• Experience handling dangerous goods documentation and regulatory research.
• Ability to manage multiple shipment trackers, ticketing systems, and commercial‑invoice tools.
• Detail‑oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving transit issues.
