About the role

The BBC News Brazil team is seeking a journalist based in São Paulo to produce high‑quality text and multimedia content for Brazilian audiences. You will help maintain the BBC’s editorial standards while expanding its reach across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Research, write and edit news stories covering politics, economy, environment and other topical issues.
• Produce exclusive, impartial content for text, video and digital formats.
• Create scripts, film, edit and finalise video packages and other multimedia material.
• Generate high‑impact headlines and story ideas consistently.
• Coordinate assignments, support translations and act up under supervision when required.
• Adhere to BBC editorial policies and uphold diversity and inclusion principles.

Required profile

• Significant recent experience as a journalist with strong production technique knowledge.
• Sound editorial judgment and understanding of the BBC’s news agenda.
• Excellent planning, organisational and deadline‑management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and maintain accuracy.
• Commitment to diversity and the ability to work collaboratively across teams in São Paulo, London and Brasília.

Required skills

• Proven ability to cover complex stories in politics, economy and environment.
• Strong writing, editing and headline‑crafting skills.
• Experience creating scripts, filming, editing and delivering video content.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese, with the ability to translate accurately.
• Comfort performing live on‑camera with impartiality and depth.
