LatAm Legal Counsel

About the role

Wise is seeking a LatAm Legal Counsel to join its São Paulo office. You will support the regional legal team in driving business growth, managing legal risk, and shaping the launch of new fintech products across Latin America.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the LatAm Legal Counsel with regional priorities, business planning, and growth strategies while evaluating legal risks.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with banking partners, API users, and enterprise customers.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal counsel to cross‑functional teams on financial regulations, consumer protection, payments, banking, marketing standards, and commercial partnerships.
• Partner with Product, Finance, Banking, Risk, Compliance, and PR teams to launch localized features and support licensing pipelines.
• Maintain and update customer agreements to reflect new services, market entries, and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with the global Legal Team and external counsel on litigation, regulatory disputes, and asset recovery.
• Develop localized templates, streamline legal workflows, and advise on emerging legal developments in Latin America.

Required profile

• Commercially minded, adaptable generalist attorney with a passion for payments, fintech, or financial services.
• Previous experience in a law firm or in‑house role focused on payments, card processing, banking, or investments.
• Fully qualified attorney with an active registration to practice law.
