Learning Support Teacher

About the role

The Learning Support Teacher provides high‑quality, inclusive learning support to students with diverse needs. Working closely with teachers, staff, families, and the Student Services Coordinator, this role ensures that every student receives tailored academic, social, and emotional assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to design and deliver support for students identified as needing assistance.
• Create, update, and implement Student Support Plans (SSP) and Individual Education Plans (IEP) in partnership with the Student Services Coordinator.
• Maintain and update Student Observation and Action Plans (SOAP) and attend related meetings.
• Provide individual and small‑group academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support.
• Teach organizational, self‑management, and problem‑solving strategies to students.
• Advocate for accessible learning during grade‑level planning meetings.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and adaptations to curriculum, assignments, and assessments.
• Build strong relationships with families, communicate progress, and participate in parent meetings.
• Track student progress using school data systems and report trends to administration.
• Co‑lead Child Study Team, SSP, and IEP meetings.

• Ability to develop and monitor individualized support plans.
• Experience working with diverse learning profiles and providing differentiated instruction.
• Organizational skills for documentation, data tracking, and meeting coordination.
