Legal Claims Manager – Litigation & Reinsurance

About the role

Join Munich Re's Brazil Claims team as a Legal Claims Manager, handling high‑impact litigated claims across Casualty and Financial Lines. You will combine legal expertise with a proactive mindset to influence outcomes and support the reinsurance business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex litigated claims across all lines of business, including Casualty, D&O, and E&O.
• Collaborate with cedants and their legal teams to achieve effective claim resolution from a reinsurance perspective.
• Provide legal guidance on coverage interpretation, policy wording, and Brazilian insurance regulations.
• Oversee large claims end‑to‑end, ensuring accurate reserving and timely settlements.
• Support Surety claims with legal and contractual advice.
• Identify subrogation and mitigation opportunities.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, capability building, and continuous improvement.
• Assist Underwriting and Client Management teams on treaty wording and business opportunities.
• Participate in strategic initiatives and cross‑functional projects within Munich Re’s global Claims community.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (Master’s degree is a plus).
• Minimum five years of experience in the (re)insurance market, either with insurers or leading law firms.
• Experience handling claims with legal exposure, not purely litigation‑focused roles.
• Strong understanding of coverage analysis, contract interpretation, and insurance law.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
• Collaborative, flexible, and proactive mindset.
• Fluent English (mandatory); Spanish is a plus.
