Mechanical Engineer – Drilling Systems

About the role

GA Drilling is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyse, and support downhole drilling systems for geothermal projects. Based in Rio de Janeiro, you will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and quality teams to move technology from prototype to commercial deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and stress analysis of drilling components and tooling.
• Develop high‑fidelity multi‑domain dynamic models of actuation systems using Simscape and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Analyse hydraulic performance considering fluid viscosity, density and temperature.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, calculations and test procedures.
• Assist with equipment assembly, disassembly, maintenance, repair and field testing.
• Diagnose equipment failures, support failure reporting and coordinate resolution with cross‑functional teams.
• Provide hands‑on support during builds, tests and field deployments, including travel as required.
• Support manufacturing, supply chain and external suppliers to ensure smooth equipment deployment.

Required profile

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in complex industrial or drilling applications.
• Practical bias with ability to follow established processes and develop new ones.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards and quality procedures.
