Principal – Latin America

About the role

The Principal, Latin America is a senior, region‑specific position responsible for shaping and delivering Luminate’s funding strategy across the region. The role directs significant resources toward high‑impact opportunities, stewarding key relationships and ensuring field insights inform organisational strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and prioritize the regional funding portfolio, aligning individual grants with broader strategic objectives (≈30%).
• Lead development and assessment of high‑value, high‑risk or strategically significant proposals, exercising senior judgement (≈25%).
• Manage senior‑level grantee and funder relationships, represent Luminate externally, and facilitate ecosystem stewardship, including convening and matchmaking (≈20%).
• Synthesise regional portfolio insights to inform global strategy, learning agendas and organisational decision‑making (≈15%).
• Oversee grant‑making quality, consistency and integrity, set regional due‑diligence standards and champion process automation (≈10%).

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in regional funding strategy, grant‑making or philanthropy.
• Demonstrated ability to allocate resources to high‑impact opportunities and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong track record of ecosystem stewardship and building collaborative partnerships.
• Capacity to translate field insights into strategic recommendations.
• Commitment to rigorous governance, quality assurance and process improvement.
