Quality Specialist – Coatings (South America)

About the role

The Quality Specialist – Coatings will support Ball’s global technical expertise in coating technologies across South America. The role focuses on executing the regional coating qualification strategy, ensuring supplier accountability, and driving sustainability while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the Global Coatings Qualification Strategy within the region, standardising material specifications to optimise costs and product quality.
• Implement the coating sustainability roadmap aligned with business and customer needs, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Partner with global quality, engineering, procurement and laboratories to support plant performance through BOE.
• Communicate regularly with regional departments on quality, technical services, product approval and compliance.
• Track and report performance metrics for global coating suppliers, conducting robust audits.
• Lead qualification of new coating suppliers, ensuring alignment with quality standards and regulations.
• Support standardisation of coating specifications to simplify processes, reduce costs and improve supply‑chain efficiency.
• Drive continuous‑improvement activities in coating application processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Minimum three years of experience managing global supplier relationships, establishing performance metrics, conducting audits and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Working knowledge of coating materials, processes and technologies.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to travel across South America up to 50‑60% of the time.
