Senior Backend Software Development Engineer (Java/Python)

About the role

This senior backend position is part of a Platform Modernization initiative in Brazil. You will own end‑to‑end delivery of complex, high‑scale features and help shape the technical direction of distributed, micro‑service based systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy scalable backend services using Java, Python or similar languages.
• Own the full lifecycle of complex features, ensuring performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Develop and maintain micro‑services, distributed systems and RESTful APIs that support large‑scale platforms.
• Apply strong testing practices (unit, integration, automated) with a test‑first mindset.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions, influencing technical decisions.
• Conduct code and design reviews to guarantee quality and best‑practice alignment.
• Identify automation, refactoring and optimization opportunities.
• Mentor peers and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field (Master’s a plus).
• Extensive senior‑level experience developing backend systems.
• Proven ability to build distributed systems, micro‑services and RESTful APIs.
• Strong QA mindset with experience in test‑driven or test‑first development.
• Experience working in agile, cross‑functional teams.
