Senior Java Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer specialized in Java to join our remote LATAM team. The role is full-time, vendor-based and aligned with EST ±2 hours, focusing on building and scaling core backend systems that serve hundreds of millions of job seekers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop and optimise distributed backend services handling real-time queries and heavy data processing.
• Own end-to-end resolution of complex distributed data challenges with minimal supervision.
• Integrate AI coding assistants into daily development to boost velocity while maintaining human-in-the-loop quality checks.
• Participate in architectural discussions, technical grooming and rigorous code reviews across Java and Kotlin codebases.
• Design, implement and maintain robust data pipelines and batch jobs using Spring Batch or equivalent frameworks.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience on backend JVM architectures.
• Strong production experience in Java and comfortable contributing to Kotlin projects.
• Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot and large-scale batch processing (Spring Batch or similar).
• Solid understanding of REST API design and practical experience with GraphQL.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a remote, distributed environment.
