Senior Software Engineer – Protection

About the role

This senior backend position focuses on building and scaling the core systems that power a global payments platform. You will work remotely from Brazil, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performance, secure, and reliable services that handle worldwide transaction volume.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop core backend services for distributed, high‑performance systems with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security.
• Own critical architectural decisions and ensure long‑term operational excellence.
• Write clean, well‑tested, maintainable code using modern practices such as TDD and BDD.
• Partner with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful features in a fast‑paced, product‑led environment.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and continuously improve engineering standards, workflows, and system robustness.
• Produce clear technical documentation to support team alignment and system understanding.

Required profile

• Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining complex backend systems in distributed environments.
• Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from design through production operations.
• Experience creating developer‑facing frameworks, APIs, or integration tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in remote, cross‑functional teams.
• Self‑driven mindset with ownership of complex technical problems.
