Senior/Staff Backend Engineer – Java

About the role

As a Backend Engineer at Oscilar, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure that powers our SaaS platform. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver highly reliable, low‑latency, and scalable services for global enterprise clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high‑performance, low‑latency backend services using Java and AWS.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and QA teams to define technical requirements and ensure smooth integration.
• Optimize and enhance existing services for maximum performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, ensuring optimal resource utilization and system stability.
• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proactively monitor service health and performance, taking actions to mitigate issues.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience focused on Java and AWS.
• Strong experience building and operating low‑latency, high‑scale services in a distributed environment.
• Proficiency in Java and its ecosystem.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed data systems (Kafka, Clickhouse).
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and security best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, and Gradle.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
